The Island
The island of Thassos is located in northern Greece, across the coast of Eastern Macedonia. The coastline reaches 115 km and the surface spreads 378.84 square kilometers. A distance of 18 nautical miles separating it from Kavala and just 6 miles from Keramoti and Kavala Airport. Administratively Thassos belongs to the region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, while included, along with the islands that surround the homonymous municipality and the eponymous regional unity. The seat of the island is Limenas. The island is lush and wood is one of the main incomes of Thassos, like the marble mining, tourism, oil, olives, honey etc. Olives, pine trees, fir, linden, cedar, dogwood and other domestic and wild plants covering the small plains to the peaks of the mountains. It has about 14,000 inhabitants.
How to get to Thassos
From Kavala - Prinos (journey time 1.30 hour approximately)
From Keramoti - Port (journey time 40 minutes approximately)
The nearest airport to Thassos is the Chrisoupoli's (Alexander the Great).
From there, the transition to Thassos takes 40 minutes by ferry - boat through Keramoti.
